𝗘𝗣𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗗𝗘 𝟬𝟬𝟭. The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
It is the 30th of January, 2023, and today marks the beginning of our internship. It's a really nerve-wracking situation for me right now since I have no idea what our supervisor will need of us in terms of our job. When he came and informed us that he would do some orientation, I could sense the pressure building up. But as soon as I realized that he was nice, all of my worry melted away. After that, I was completely calm. The subject of our lives was our first topic of conversation. It's a lot of fun, especially considering how well I've gotten to know both my supervisor and the other interns working with me. In addition, we discussed the activities that must be completed by each of us in accordance with the timetable for our internship. After the first briefing, he introduced us to the other members of the BUGS office staff. He also gave us the opportunity to speak with the BUGS Dean, who is in charge of the office. Following that, he proceeded to immediately give us our first assignment. Our first job is to organize the files containing the graduate students' enrollment requirements so that they may be sent to the appropriate departments. Despite the fact that I was overwhelmed by the mountain of paper that I and my co-interns needed to sort, we opted to accept the task because we believe that we are capable of completing it.
Following our hour-long lunch break, we got back to work right away. We classified it according to the documents that had full signatures, those that were lacking the signature of the dean, those that were missing the sign of the secretary, and those that were missing the signatures of both. Because the registrar of the graduate school eventually requested the letters that were attached to the papers, we made sure to quickly find them on every single one of the papers that were there. Furthermore, we wanted to continue the task, but the employees there told us there was still time to do it tomorrow, so we left the office together, and that was the end of our first day of internship.
The realization that this would
be our working environment when we started our actual jobs after graduation
made the beginning of our internship a very enjoyable experience; nonetheless,
it is important for me to take this seriously since it serves as a precursor to
the work that I will be doing in the not-too-distant future. Just as what the
movie ‘The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)’ says, "You got a dream... You
gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you
can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period."
